Today is petition turn in day for the Democrats who are nominating their statewide picks via a Primary. Would be Lieutenant Governor nominee Aneesh Chopra announced via his Facebook page that his campaign filed 20,630 signatures [1]:
[2]20,630 signatures delivered in 11 pretty sturdy looking cardboard boxes.
Let’s assume 20 signatures per page.
That’s 1,032 sheets of paper.
Spread across 11 boxes, that’s 94 sheets of paper per box.
Why is Aneesh Chopra wasting all those boxes?
Why does Aneesh Chopra hate the environment?
Paid for and authorized by the Lorax against Chopra – seriously, man, figure out better props for a photo op next time.
PS – Fellow LG nomination seeker Ralph Northam reported filing 14,703 petition signatures.
UPDATE: Anyone else wonder what method DPVA will use to verify petition signatures? What system do they have in place? Or will they just say “Yup!” and rubber stamp their candidates on through?
