Friday Whine and Cheese: Libs say the darnedest things

Disclaimer: Ward didn’t build this post.

President Obama made another campaign swing through Virginia last week, and the First Lady is here today. Thing is that since he came we’ve had yet another poll. Unlike previous left-leaning polls, this one from Quinnipiac [2] shows Mitt Romney and Barack Obama dead even in Virginia. It also shows George Allen up by 2.

The best part about this is that that unlike the recent Public Policy Poll [3] which, among other things under sampled Republicans and was taken when half the state was out of power, the Quinnipiac poll was actually taken while Obama was in the state.

Y’all come back now, ya hear?

Especially if you’re going to keep going off teleprompter [4].

In Norfolk, and repeated later in Ohio the President actually said:

“What I find is…when I try something that doesn’t work then I don’t try it again. You don’t go back to doing something that didn’t work.”

It’s frickin’ Christmas in July. I mean, does he realize what he said? We all know that his brand of hope and change isn’t working. And in the Obama economy with unemployment over 8% for more than 40 months, hope and change isn’t the only thing not working.

So when the President says “You don’t go back to doing something that didn’t work,” I completely agree.

I certainly didn’t vote for him and have no intention of doing so in November. But let’s just hope the millions who did vote for him in 2008 have realized that it’s very simple. Obama isn’t working.

But that statement wasn’t the biggest gift Obama gave Mitt Romney last week. In Roanoke, he said:

If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

That sparked what may turn out to be one of the funniest and longest running political memes of our time. Websites [6] sprang up. Facebook pages were full of the latest spoof of those words.

Of course, the Obama campaign and surrogates tried to cry that he was being taken out of context. And certainly, as D.J. Spiker pointed out [8] the mainstream media wasn’t giving it much attention.

Thankfully this seems to have been an opening of sorts for Mitt Romney who went on the offensive and said “It wasn’t a gaffe. It was instead his ideology.”

Go Mitt, Go.

Speaking of going, where did Tim Kaine go when Obama was in Virginia last week?

[9]

The American Maverick [10] notes “Kaine’s campaign hardly mentioned the President being in Virginia through what is usually an onslaught of emails to contributors. In addition, Kaine’s social media sites were noticeably vacant of mention of the Democrat President’s appearances.”

Surely the Maverick is off base on this one. We all know that Tim Kaine has no problem appearing with Barack Obama. At least not in San [11] Francisco [12].

Or maybe Tim Kaine knows what so many people know. When Obama calls, don’t answer…
