Most political folks know that one of Rep. Ron Paul’s more potent rally cries is “end the Fed” (which is also the title of his book [1] on the subject of the Federal Reserve system). Paul has also been a driving force on bills to audit the fed [2].
Imagine my surprise to learn that George Allen was also leading a charge to audit the Federal Reserve. As a member of the Virginia House of Delegates back in 1986 (click on image to embiggen):

The measure passed the House and was quietly killed in the Senate, most likely by the late Sen. Hunter Andrews — which goes to show that not much has changed in Virginia in the last 25 years.
