Fimian to not run for lieutenant govenor

Earlier today, Bearing Drift posted that Prince William County Supervisor Corey Stewart will be throwing his hat into the ring for lieutenant governor [1].

What you didn’t see was an email exchange between Bearing Drift contributors speculating about who else might be running.

On that list included former congressional candidate and Northern Virginia businessman Keith Fimian.

Bearing Drift has learned that Fimian unequivocally will not be running for the spot.

A source close to Fimian has stated that Fimian will continue to raise money and support Republican candidates [3], but wants to also focus on his business, U.S. Inspect [4]. He has not ruled out running for office at a later date.  Our source says that Fimian’s decision not to run is unrelated to Stewart’s entry into the race.

Other candidates that Bearing Drift contributors speculate might be running include:

* State Senator Jeff McWaters, founder of Amerigroup
* Former State Senator Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, a technology consultant and
* Pete Snyder, founder of New Media Strategies (which focuses on social media communications) and now a chief Republican fundraiser in Virginia

The 2013 Republican nominations will be decided by a primary. Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli have declared their intent to run for governor and State Senator Mark Obenshain and Virginia Delegate Rob Bell have announced for attorney general.
