Today’s canvassing expanded Bryce Reeves’s lead over Sen. Edd Houck to 226 votes, further solidifying Republican’s 20-20 split in the State Senate.
As Virginia has no automatic recount, Houck has the right to request one with the difference being under 1%. If the votes hold the difference falls just at 0.5%, putting the cost of the recount on the localities. More than 0.5% and any recount would have to be paid for by Houck.
A recount can be requested once the results have been certified by the State Board of Elections on November 28th.
