Republican Bob Turner is victorious [1]in his race to win the special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Anthony Weiner.
Despite what the Democratic analysts may say, this is an upset. A Republican has not won this area since before World War 2. Interestingly, there is evidence that a key factor in Turner’s victory may be the district’s Orthodox Jewish community who were increasingly frustrated by both the Democratic candidate Weprin’s support of homosexual marriage and the President’s hostile attitude towards Israel.
Could this race be an indicator of a future trend?
