Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has an awesome campaign going on called “Running on Empty [1].”
The creative folks at AFP have decided to send the Obama administration a bill – one for each average fill-up you partake in at the gas pump.
When you visit the site for the first time [1], you enter the number of dollars you average paying at the pump and the number of times you fill-up per month. The site then automatically calculates the bill and adds it to the cumulative total for the cause. As of today, it’s just about $750k.
From the site, AFP says:
Since President Obama took office, gas prices have nearly doubled. The administration refuses to develop American energy sources…American energy sources that could help gas prices, electricity prices, and food prices come down.
Americans are running on empty and the administration needs to hear how regulations and restriction to domestic resources are affecting working families who rely on affordable energy to commute to work, go to school activities and shop for family groceries.
The point is obviously to put pressure on the administration to begin developing sound policies that expand domestic energy production, increase job opportunities, and most importantly, reduce energy costs.
The campaign comes to Virginia on June 14 in Harrisonburg and Roanoke [2].
