Munoz and Frederick to battle for rights to take on Puller?

So sayeth the Washington Post [1]:

Word is [Tito Munoz] looking to take on Democratic Sen. Linda “Toddy” Puller, in her district which includes portions of Fairfax, Prince William and Stafford counties.

But first he may face Jeff Frederick, the ousted leader of the Republican Party of Virginia and a former Prince William County delegate, who said he’s considering running for the seat, too.

TitoPAC [2] held a fundraiser raising $10,000 Thursday and headlined by Sen. Mark Obenshain.

As a legislator, Frederick [3]was a relatively reliable conservative vote, and would be a welcome addition to the state senate. Munoz, a leading conservative voice on Latino radio, has been actively campaigning for Republican and conservative causes since the last presidential election.

In the redrawn 36th, which was purportedly designed to protect Puller, the competition might lead to benefit conservatives.

Just so long as the two men are able to keep the debate civil and rally conservatives after the nomination, this could prove to be a very good thing as the public gets educated on conservative ideas and name identification for the Republican candidates goes up.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point as neither man has declared their candidacy, despite Munoz writing a very nice commentary [4] earlier on BD and Jeff Frederick emailing supporters stating he’s giving it very serious consideration.
