House of Delegates Candidate Brian Schoeneman issued the following statement on the announcement of the House redistricting plan:
“As expected, the General Assembly has issued their proposals for both House and Senate redistricting this afternoon. Based on the legislative language of Speaker Howell’s bill, my home precinct of Monument will be shifted from the 35th District into the 37th District.
As I stated in my announcement, so long as I am running against a Democratic incumbent, I intend to remain in the race. I am looking forward to running an energetic campaign against Delegate David Bulova, whose home precinct of Sideburn remains in the 37th District under the Speaker’s plan.
Before these lines are official, they must be passed by the legislature, signed by the Governor and pre-cleared through the requisite Voting Rights Act process. I urge the General Assembly to pass this plan next week during the Special Session so we may move forward with the 2011 campaign season.”
