Maybe on this Good Friday, after some of us have become more jaded about politics as the week has progressed, it’s a good time to remind one another that we all do really want to follow the “golden rule”.
On Monday, Democrats from Virginia Beach and 2nd District Republican Congressional candidates came together to work for the Southeastern Foodbank [1] and their “Backpack” program [2].
The program is where backpacks are stuffed full of non-perishable food items, such as granola bars and canned ravioli, ensuring that children, who do not have access to any school lunch programs on holidays (such as spring break next week), will be able to eat.
Democrats and Republicans brought in food for the program on Monday and did some of the “heavy lifting” to get the food loaded into vans for distribution.
Kudos to the foodbank and to the volunteers for continuing to fight hunger in our community.
