Yesterday, former Governor Jim Gilmore released a statement [1] about his new gig: heading-up the Free Congress Foundation [2].
Gilmore, who becomes the foundation’s president and CEO, says, “there is a real need and demand in the country right now for an organization that advances conservative solutions to the problems facing everyday Americans in a bipartisan fashion.”
He will work to make Free Congress the organization that can bring all political party persuasions together under a big tent to follow conservative solutions (which might be a challenge given his past as an ardent Republican and chairman of the national party).
Gilmore effectively succeeds the late Paul Weyrich, founder and national chairman of the organization (and the Heritage Foundation), who passed away Dec. 19, 2008 [3].
