Mizusawa set to enter 2nd District battle

Bert Mizusawa, a former professional staff member of Congress (Senate Armed Services Committee), Senior Executive at the Pentagon (oversaw the U.S. Army’s interagency and international affairs operations), Airborne Ranger (served in the Korean DMZ) and Reserve Brigadier General (led operations in Iraq and Afghanistan), is now prepared to enter another campaign: this for the 2nd Congressional District’s GOP nomination.

Mizusawa calls his campaign announcement “imminent”.

Mizusawa, who grew up in Hampton Roads, is also president of Paxcentric, Inc., a management consulting firm with locations in Hampton and McLean, Virginia and holds his J.D. and Masters in Public Policy from Harvard. His bachelor’s degree is from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (where he graduated first in his class).

Mizusawa also is extremely familiar with the concepts of antiterrorism and cyber operations through his work in private industry, the government, and non-profit organizations.

Mizusawa, whose campaign has not yet received a great deal of attention, will join an already crowded, and strong, GOP field consisting of two retired Navy captains, a former Navy SEAL, a Marine Corps veteran, and a successful entrepreneur (Ben Loyola, Ken Golden, Scott Taylor, Chuck Smith, and Scott Rigell) – all with compelling backgrounds and stories to tell.

They are all vying for the right to face single-term incumbent Rep. Glenn Nye (D-Va.), who, himself, is a former Foreign Service Officer.
