Gov. Tim Kaine, Gov-elect Bob McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling all attended the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Revenue Estimates (GACRE) today and received less than stellar news regarding the state budget.
The estimators predicted that “Virginia needs to cut an additional $250 million from the budget and be prepared for a $3 billion shortfall in the next two years”, reports the Washington Times [1].
Also according to the Times, “Mr. Kaine said he won’t take anything off the table when it comes to fulfilling his responsibility.” which includes raising taxes, and is a proposal Gov-elect McDonnell is absolutely opposed to.
I thought when Deeds lost the election that the mythical table had been destroyed? Remember, it was Deeds who always said that “everything (read: taxes) was on the table.”
Kaine gets a final cut at the budget this December before McDonnell is inaugurated Jan. 16, 2010.
