Republican nominee Bob McDonnell [1] out raised Democrat Creigh Deeds [2] 4 to 3 in the first three weeks of October.
Most of McDonnell’s $4,019,760 was thanks in a large part to in-kind contributions from the US Chamber of Commerce of nearly $1 million and RPV.
Of McDonnell’s $1.8 million cash raised from 4171 donations, no contributions were greater than $50,000 for an average contribution of $432.
Deeds, on the other hand, saw $1.735 million from the DNC and another $100k from the American Federation of Teachers. So, in essence, Creigh Deeds raised just over $900,000 in three weeks from 2377 individual contributions under $100k for an average contribution around $390.
Dollar to dollar, Bob McDonnell out raised Creigh Deeds nearly 2-1 in the last three weeks.
That’s one heck of an enthusiasm gap.
