Shout out to Congressman Frank Wolf for introducing legislation to create a bi-partisan entitlement reform commission. The Weekly Standard [1] is calling this “real bipartisanship” and “an exercise in government by commission.”
Would a commission force our electeds to make tough decisions or help them dodge them? As the WS points out, they aren’t a panacea, but clearly Congress isn’t making any progress in confronting the entitlement crisis now, so how much worse could Wolf’s reform commission make things?
I, for one, am glad Wolf is at least thinking about how to approach entitlement reform. Who else is saying anything constructive on the subject right now? And, I think it’s wise he’s cosponsoring with a Blue Dog.
