This is what makes me wonder why taxpayers employ some people to teach.
Del. Sal Iaquinto is hosting a Godfather-styled fundraiser [1]. Last year, he did a “Pirates of the Caribbean” event. Fortunately, pirates aren’t hypersensitive dweebs who get offended at a movie.
But college professors sure can be!
“I found it utterly offensive,” said Marra, an Italian-language professor at Old Dominion University. “It perpetuates the kind of stereotypes we’re accustomed to getting from Hollywood, not our elected officials, especially one that has Italian roots.”
And this story [2] perpetuates the stereotype that those who can’t, teach.
I don’t remember the ODU revolt when Bill and Hillary Clinton spoofed [3] THE SOPRANOS!!!!!! That must’ve been just fine in the enclaves of higher education. But a Republican fundraiser? Sound the “offended” alert!
I’m offended that ODU charges tuition if this is an example of the intellect of their educators.
