The eyebrow that won’t die
August 31, 2008
When Gov Kaine was on the Daily Show last week, he gave Jon Stewart a button with this logo. I almost wish Kaine had gotten the nod just to see it get wider play. Well, not really, but it still would be pretty funny.

Political Madlibs
August 31, 2008
This isn’t breaking news, but it’s just too fun to pass over noting. Here’s Karl Rove on a certain potential veep pick a little while back.
“With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years. He’s been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done … [Kaine] was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa, or Gilbert, Arizona; North Las Vegas, or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town.”
Put Palin in there and Kaine actually sounds experienced. Especially since Richmond has almost 1/3 the population of all of Alaska, not to mention Richmond vs Wasilla.
Let’s remind Governors what they promised
May 24, 2008
“Kaine said he would draw transportation funding from budget surpluses and taxes on auto insurance premiums that now support other programs. He would also rely on new public-private partnerships to build projects. He stressed that he would not raise taxes unless the transportation trust fund was secured by a state constitutional amendment, so that he could promise voters that their money would not be spent on anything else.” Washington Post
That was 2005 during a debate. Let’s remind him.
Kaine: Raise sales tax, grantor’s tax, car taxes
May 12, 2008
Leave it to a liberal to push a house tax in the middle of a housing crisis and push regional sales taxes that lost two referendums by a 2 to 1 margin. But that’s Gov. Tim Kaine’s plan. And guess what? The “house tax” won’t even go for roads.

Supreme Court - Lethal Injections OK
April 16, 2008
In a surprise to no one except Governor Tim Kaine, the Supreme Court today threw out the challenge to the constitutionality of lethal injection. It wasn’t even close! 7-2 vote, with former ACLU lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg standing in the lonely corner with David Souter. Kaine’s decision was even more foolish as the opinions are coming out.

Kaine poised to break tax promise
April 9, 2008
“Kaine, the lieutenant governor, said he is opposed to increasing Virginia’s tax of 17.5 cents per gallon on gas and will veto any tax increases for roads until the state passes a constitutional amendment that prohibits lawmakers from using money in the transportation fund for other purposes.” Washington Post October 9, 2005
Seems that’s out the window, like Kaine’s promise to implement the death penalty. RTD reports that Kaine’s huddled with his tax friends and a poll that shows Virginians truly want their taxes raised.
Well, if that’s true, let’s test it! Let’s have a referendum.
