For all the rhetoric and verbal hand grenades that have been lobbed at President Bush over his “bungled” management of the war on terror, our nation is going to have to recognize that it’s been Bush’s policies over seven years that has kept another terror attack from occurring in the U.S.

$389 billion deficit this year; $482 billion next

$389,000,000,000.00 + $482,000,000,000.00

That’s how much we have to finance as a nation over the next two years.

That’s how much the country has to borrow in order to pay its bills.

Add that’s adding to an already colossal national debt of $9,546,918,990,905.40 (as calculated by the on-line national debt clock as of 6:30 a.m.).

As you can see, we have a bit of a spending problem.

President lifts executive order on off-shore drilling; Webb advocates offshore drilling as option

July 14, 2008

The president finally put his money where his mouth is and is rescinding the executive order (signed by his dad) that banned offshore drilling. Now it’s up to Congress to ultimately lift the moratorium.

Also, Sen. Webb has stated that drilling is an option.

While Democrats continue to offer very little in the way of solutions to our energy concerns, unless you count RAISING the price of oil (such as removing subsidies for energy companies, increasing the gas tax, etc.), some responsible legislators, including Virginia’s own State Sen. Frank Wagner and U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, are actually trying to move the debate in a direction that helps America preserve its energy security.
