In Mr. Obama’s ad, we get theme he promised he’d never use: the death of Osama bin Laden (“You know, we don’t trot out this stuff as trophies,” he said). That was then, this is now and there’s an election campaign underway so bring on the trophies:

In the second, RNC, ad, we have a different theme — one featuring then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, who believed then-Sen. Obama just wasn’t ready for the Oval Office:

The Obama ad features Bill Clinton, who references George Bush (funny how he keeps reappearing, isn’t it?). The RNC ad has ol’ Joe in fine form, and is very much focused on the President’s handling of the economy.

They are both good ads. They make solid hits and have great visuals. And each presents what it thinks is its strongest case: Obama “the decider” v. Obama the Unready.

Drop your partisan blinders for a moment and tell me: which one does a better job at delivering its message?

Kinda reminds me… maybe Kaine plays a little Peter Gabriel on his iPod going between DNC HQ and the White House?

While Donner doesn’t come out and argue for straight up legalization, he does argue for decriminalization of marijuana… and an “de-escalation” of the Drug War.

Conservatives all across Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District have received numerous mailers from the Democratic Party of Virginia that tout independent candidate Jeff Clark as the “true social and fiscal candidate” in this upcoming congressional election. It is clear that the Democratic Party of Virginia has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on these mailers.

These mail pieces are a blatant and failed attempt by the Democratic Party of Virginia and Tom Perriello’s political machine to siphon off votes of social and fiscal conservatives and members of our local Tea Party groups for Republican Robert Hurt in favor of Jeff Clark. It is also clear that the Democrats do not believe that their candidate is strong enough to win re-election based on his own record, and that they wrongly believe that social and fiscal conservatives here in the 5th District are so naive as to allow the Democratic Party to tell us who to vote for on November 2nd. Conservatives know that a vote for Jeff Clark is a vote for Tom Perriello and the political machine of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.

Today I call on Independent candidate Jeff Clark to either rebuke the Democrat’s use of him as a shill for Tom Perriello, or to openly thank the Democratic Party of Virginia for these Pro-Clark mail pieces and to report these mailers as “in-kind” contributions on his federal campaign finance filing Reports.

Conservatives all over the 5th District of Virginia will not be fooled by political stunts such as these so late in the campaign, and we will stand together this November 2nd to defeat Tom Perriello and elect Robert Hurt as our next Congressman.

In a blinding flash of the obvious, WAVY-10 local did a report on Norfolk’s flooding problems – the city’s solution: to contract with a foreign company and then petition the federal government for a bailout – literally. (certainly rezoning and systematically replacing the antiquated drainage system couldn’t help)

Grab a bucket and watch the video.

Perhaps it’s not Mother Nature causing Norfolk to sink after all, but a bloated and bureaucratic city government hemorrhaging taxpayer dollars faster than a dam burst.

Of the video, RPV says:

“Friends are truly rare and special gifts. No one knows that better than Rick Boucher and his best friend President Obama. Rick and President Obama’s friendship is a deep one, so deep that Rick wrote President Obama’s vision for cap and trade into a bill that would kill thousands of jobs in his own district,” the party said. “In fact, Rick has voted for President Obama’s agenda 96.6% of the time.”

No surprise to see this kind of relationship highlighted against the 14-term incumbent, Boucher, who is being challenged by Republican Morgan Griffith.

In 2008, Obama only received 39.8% of the Ninth District votes, despite winning the state – the first Democrat to do so since 1964. Boucher did not have a record to run on with the administration at the time and was unopposed.

For the first time in awhile, Boucher is going to have to defend his voting record to his constituents – a voting record that’s awfully cozy with an already unpopular administration in the district.
