Politico wonders if the right will ever get cyber-journalists
Politico writes today that the left is kicking the right’s butt when it comes to on-line journalism because folks on the right aspire to be William F. Buckley, Jr. while folks on the left want to write for the NY Times.

Obama Biting The Hand that Made Him?
Cross Posted with Bearing Drift Ohio
NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell is annoyed at Brack Obama. Although she not normally known for being anti-anything liberal, this time she is fired up.
Regarding St. Obama’s trip to the Middle East, she said on MSNBC’s HARDBALL:
He didn’t have reporters with him, he didn’t have a press […]
Russert is still dead.
Cross-posted from Bearing Drift Ohio
Only proving my point before regarding the media coverage of Tony Snow’s death, NBC Nightly News decided to run a story about what they call the “Russert Effect” less than two days after Tony’s Snow’s death. I mean, Snow is not even buried and NBC feels the need to put the […]
Virginian-Pilot: Blind or just covering their eyes
More fun from the editorial pages of the Virginian-Pilot. Christina Nuckols, whom I like by the way, wrote another transportation piece for the VP which didn’t even hint at the Republican plan that passed the House. She gets the Democrats right, lining up sales tax increases for Moran, gas tax increases for Deeds.
But […]
Editorialists blast Republicans over transportation session
Mainstream media still doesn’t get it.
In three editorials today from the Washington Post, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Virginian-Pilot, the writers woefully lament how House Republicans “rejected any real attempt at raising revenue statewide”.
Damn right. And when the MSM is angry about what Republicans have done on principle, that’s usually a good sign.

Send that check to Bearing Drift
Legacy is a big deal for those who watch Virginia governors: Mark Warner raised taxes to benefit education, health programs and public safety; Jim Gilmore cut the car tax; George Allen abolished parole and reformed welfare. (Virginian-Pilot)
Hey - that sounds familiar! Kaine’s interview with Bearing Drift

Why not oil?
Today’s Virginian-Pilot editorial offers their suggestion for more internet capacity. They think limiting bandwidth is a bad idea.
At best, though, such measures are temporary. As more and more media migrate to Internet-based delivery, the need for bandwidth will only grow. Which means there’s only one real solution: Make more.
The same is true for energy, […]
Episode 27. Virginia Politics On-Demand. June 19, 2008.
In this week’s show, Shaun Kenney and Brian Kirwin join J.R. to talk the latest in politics in Virginia. This week’s show includes:
J.R. dives right into the discussion by wondering when we’re going to “Drill here! Drill now! And Pay Less!”;
Brian illustrates how little Democrats have to offer when it comes to transportation (including […]
Suffolk News-Herald biased?
In a recent letter to the editor at the Suffolk News-Herald, the editorial page editor printed a letter with the headline “Forbes Misusing Taxpayer Dollars.” As you can imagine, that caught my attention.

Why transportation plans fail
Because this is the attitude of those promoting them. “Sometimes I wonder why they have town hall meetings” - Calling citizen comments “mostly noise” - Criticizing citizens for speaking their own ideas since “No one referred to anything he said” - and saying that next time Tim Kaine comes to town, citizens should […]
Can’t wait for Nuckols’ article next year
Christina Nuckols, an editorial writer for the Virginian-Pilot, and former General Assembly beat reporter (whom one delegate always shakes their head when I mention her name), decided to grace us this Sunday with her analysis of her perception of a Republican “fracture.”

Ironic Headline
Quite the chuckle at the Virginian-Pilot’s editorial headline “Kaine makes it hard to say no on roads”.
Their online poll the same day on Kaine’s plan: Yes 29% No 67%

School is worth quitting
That’s the message I got from the editorial in today’s Virginian-Pilot. I miss the days when the V-P editorial board pretended to be moderate, because lately they are diving deeply into the left side of the pool.
According to the Pilot, some students won’t care about grades if they aren’t in sports, so grade standards […]
TV/Tornado lawsuit dropped
WTKR, probably because they were the subject of serious eyerolls and more than a few laughs, has dropped their battle to defend the Constitution and 1st amendment rights. I lambasted them here, but there’s more….

TV sues city over tornado
Wanna hear the biggest hunk of baloney since Bill Clinton last spoke? Read this.
WTKR sued Suffolk today because they thought they needed more access to the destruction scenes of the tornado. Suffolk’s limited access, get this, “hampers the ability of charitable groups to identify needs and give help.” Yeah…that’s what they were […]
