Trump4Gov.com, The (Un)Affordable Care Act, LuAnn’s Hideaway

Nevermind Policy and Issues…We’ve Got a Website!

I guess the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) has realized that Hillary’s arguments supporting partial birth abortion are so indefensible that they need to come up with a distraction. Today’s? “Trump4Gov.com”

According to DPVA, this is a website that will hold Republican gubernatorial candidates accountable for supporting and enabling “the most dangerous candidate to ever be nominated by a major party.”

“Republican candidates for governor in 2017 can’t erase their record in 2016. Virginia voters will remember that they stood by Donald Trump even as he bragged about sexual assault, attacked a Gold Star family from Charlottesville, and undermined the basic tenets of American democracy,” said Susan Swecker, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Virginia.

I’m not quite sure the “guilt by association game” is going to work out so well for Democrats though when actual issues start getting discussed. Honestly, when you start looking at things like Benghazi, pay-for-play, unsecured emails, I’m not so sure how much Ralph Northam wants to cuddle-up to the likely POTUS.

And then, of course, there’s the big one:

The (Un)Affordable Care Act

Reports are that even the Obama Administration is admitting it was all a canard.

Do you recollect “Your premiums won’t go up…etc.”

Complete fabrication.

From the Associated Press:

Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states, including Virginia, served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps, others less.

Moreover, about 1 in 5 consumers will only have plans from a single insurer to pick from, after major national carriers such as UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Aetna scaled back their roles.

So, are you with the candidate who wants to double-down on ACA and move America towards a single-payer system? I’m not sure that’s the record I’d want for my albatross.

LuAnn’s Hideaway

I’ll admit, this one is kind of a tough one for me because I supported Congressman Randy Forbes and his move to the 2nd Congressional District to challenge Scott Taylor for the Republican nomination.

Multiple times during the primary I reflected upon Hampton Roads sharing so many commonalities – the port, tourism, military, crappy traffic…we’re all one big, happy, dysfunctional family down here.

So why should DC and the 10th Congressional District be any different?

How many people wake up every morning to work in DC (like FBI deputy directors)? How many Virginians actually punish themselves with liking the Redskins (who play in Maryland…GO LIONS!)? And isn’t the beltway and the Metro just one big monstrosity that everyone hates?

Clearly DC and NoVA are also a community of interest.

But here’s where character comes into the equation.

Forbes made absolutely no secret about where he lives – his family homestead is where everyone who’s politically active in Hampton Roads knows (yep, including people in Virginia Beach) – and if you don’t, well, you’re a newbie.

I’m his neighbor and we literally can throw a stone into the 2nd District.

LuAnn Bennett – that’s another story.

Somehow this has become an incredible cloak-and-dagger mystery about where she lived and how long she lived there.

But, in the case of Bennett, it actually does matter because she’s either committing mortgage fraud or tax evasion. Neither are really all that good.

Bear with me for a little tedium.

She posted on Facebook in April 2014 that she “moved to Washington, D.C.”

And then she announced in December 2015 that she was running for Congress.

She has subsequently deleted this post and has denied that she has ever lived in DC, even though the place was furnished and had her personal pictures, etc. Check out this photo:

Now, even more concerning, we have a mortgage document that says the DC condo is her residence. Residences are not places of business. But Bennett is claiming this is a business. Specifically, she’s saying she’s renting the place out.

Small problem.

From The Washington Free Beacon:

“Bennett has repeatedly claimed to be renting out her $1.35 million Ritz-Carlton condo in Washington, D.C., as she runs to represent Virginia’s 10th congressional district, but a rider to the mortgage agreement for the property states that the condo should be available for her ‘exclusive use and enjoyment at all times.’”
Oops.

To add even more fun, if you live in DC more than six months you owe taxes to the district. Guess what? Mrs. Bennett hasn’t paid DC taxes.

There’s a whole lot that doesn’t pass the smell test here. Then again, she was recruited by ex-husband Jim Moran to run for this seat, so should we be all that surprised?

If a candidate for public office cannot be honest about where they live, what else do you think they’re going to lie to you about?

I have to admit, it’s somewhat befuddling to me that a dude from Hampton Roads can look into this but the so-called “fourth branch” in the region is nowhere to be found.

He’re the bottom-line: Bennett is either committing fraud, or she’s lying about her taxes. Either way, she did something wrong. And it’s a typical Democrat who wants to raise taxes on everybody else while being a tax dodger.

LuAnn Bennett: unvetted, unrepentant, tax-dodging real estate mogul, no?
