Three Quick Things: Rigell Endorses Johnson; Like it or Not, Most Really Think There’s Voter Fraud; McAuliffe-McCabe Connection

Rigell Endorses Johnson

Congressman Scott Rigell is on his way out of public service, and fires a nice parting salvo in support of Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson:

Most Americans Think There Really is Voter Fraud

From Rasmussen Polls:

Most Fear Voter Fraud, Say Candidates Shouldn’t Accept Early Results
Hillary Clinton was shocked at Donald Trump’s statement during the final presidential debate that he will wait until the election results are final before accepting them because he’s concerned about potential voter fraud. But most voters think that’s the right decision. Read More >>>

Huh, RPV? Oh…That. Glad There’s Google.

Finally, we got this statement today from Chairman John Whitbeck of the Republican Party of Virginia:

“Hillary Clinton and Terry McAuliffe have a long history of ethically suspect, self-serving relationships. Today’s Wall Street Journal story brings one more of them to light. As Democrats attempt to sweep this scandal under the rug, it’s important to remember that Terry McAuliffe cleared the field for Dr. McCabe – a political neophyte who had never run for office before.”

“Terry McAuliffe is many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. Given the chance to put a few favors in the bank at the FBI for Clinton Inc., Governor McAuliffe jumped at the chance. The fact that both he and Hillary Clinton fell under FBI investigation proves just what a wise investment this was.”

“Today, at my direction, the Republican Party of Virginia is filing a Freedom of Information Act request with Governor McAuliffe’s office for any and all communications related to Dr. Jill McCabe’s 2015 campaign for state Senate. While the Governor’s PAC is not a public organization, we also call on Terry McAuliffe to release any and all emails to and from that organization related to Dr. McCabe’s campaign.”

“Given his history, Governor McAuliffe simply has no credibility when it comes to scandals like this. If he wants Virginians to believe that he wasn’t buying a reprieve for himself and Hillary Clinton, he should be willing to prove it.”

For those who desire context, we appreciate The Wall Street Journal providing it.

Even more context from Jim Geraghty of The National Review:

Andrew McCabe might be the straightest arrow in the entire quiver of the Bureau, and Mrs. McCabe might have never even discussed the Clinton prosecution with him. But if your spouse is going to be involved in politics, you should not oversee criminal investigations of political figures. It will always present the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Is everybody at the FBI married to a partisan political figure?

Update: Apparently this story has gotten under the skin of Virginia Democrats. Susan Swecker, DPVA chair, said, “Virginia Republicans wouldn’t dare pass up an opportunity to characterize a strong female candidate and an accomplished doctor and hospital administrator as nothing more than a political neophyte and alleged patsy in an impossible scheme. This story is utterly baseless.

When a political party starts saying something is “baseless,” that makes the story all the more interesting.
