Ben Carson, the accomplished neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate, has become the fourth candidate to file his petitions in Virginia to qualify for the Mar. 1 Super Tuesday primary.
“Virginia Republican voters will have a choice in the March 1 primary and voice in selecting out nominee,” said RPV Chairman John Whitbeck. “It is clear that Ben Carson and his Campaign team are taking Virginia very seriously and we are excited to see such a significant grassroots effort.”
“I am honored to submit the signatures of over 14,000 Virginians who petitioned to place my name on the March 1 primary ballot,” said Dr. Carson. “I am especially humbled by the hundreds of volunteers who spent tireless hours gathering these signatures across the Commonwealth. This effort is reflective of the movement our campaign has inspired — a grassroots movement of We the People, united to Heal, Inspire and Revive this great nation.”
The 5,000 signatures statewide and 200 signatures per Congressional District threshold is not arbitrary nor easy, and those that can meet that threshold show themselves to be serious candidates. Kudos to Trump, Kasich, Bush, and, now, Carson.
