That’s the idiotic claim made by the leadership of the Virginia Education Association. Apparently, the VEA is handing money out all over the state to candidates they oppose.
What? They aren’t?
You’d think they were.. considering all their illogical complaining about Del. David Yancey.
VPAP shows the VEA made $500 contribution to Del. Yancey’s re-election campaign.
One might say that’s pretty supportive.
The VEA, using Common Core induced logic, is claiming that when they financially supported Del. Yancey’s re-election, they weren’t supporting his re-election.
In other words, the VEA’s story is “Yeah, we faked it.”
With the maximum amount of gall, the VEA now cries to the press because an RPV mailpiece noted that Yancey “has received support from the Virginia Education Association”. (VaPilot)
That’s a fact. That’s a provable, public fact. He has received support from the VEA. Just because the VEA throws checks around like a proud papa hands out cigars doesn’t negate that they handed one of those to Yancey.
The check didn’t have a note on the memo line saying, “Just because we’re supporting your re-election fund doesn’t mean we support your re-election.”
Of course, the Virginian-Pilot bought the VEA’s whining, and made the headline “VEA says Newport News delegate falsely claimed endorsement” instead of what it should be: “VEA supports Delegate and then denies it.”
No one claimed endorsement. The VEA is wrong. RPV said Yancey received support, and the VEA admitted the $500 contribution.
Here’s a hint to the VEA. When you financially support a candidate, going so far as to pay to attend a campaign fundraiser, you ARE supporting that campaign.
To claim otherwise shows you to either be dishonest or stupid, and in either case, VEA members should demand new, competent leaders or else get their dues back.
