Yes, the picture I used specifically references Marco Rubio, because he’s my preferred choice for president. I don’t speak for the rest of the BD folks, but when it comes to stopping the Trump Train, you have to pick a superior candidate…and then explain why. You can’t beat someone – even someone as confused as Trump – with no one.
Sure, I think Rubio is the best choice, but then again, he has actually taken on and beaten a self-absorbed, egotistical blowhard: the great Trump-with-a-tan himself, Charlie Crist. Rubio also has a record of trying to reduce the scope, size, and cost of government without veering into personal blind alleys. He stayed firm on supporting Trade Promotion Authority when others went for expensive (to consumers) populism instead. He has repeatedly opposed both the Export-Import Bank and the agriculture subsidies that redistribute income upward. He has been one of the very few who has been willing to engage both sides on the immigration debate – recognizing both the national security problems with the current state of the border and the economic benefits in lower labor costs (yes, I said it: lower nominal wages lead to lower prices – and that’s a good thing).
Perhaps that issue set doesn’t work for you. Fine. Then, if you really are worried about Donald Trump, put your choice from Republican nominee in the comments, and give your reasons. Don’t tear Trump down (he can do that himself); build your candidate up.
I said it before and I’ll say it again: you can’t beat someone with no one.
