With today’s landmark Supreme Court ruling on LGBT right to marry, the 5-4 close decision also established a clear legal precedent for future court cases.
The Court held that any state in which an individual seeks to participate in an activity and is licensed by said state must in turn be recognized by any other state, and may not be restricted from such activities by any legislation from any other state.
How, then, will any state be able to ban conceal-carry permits, moving forward? Given that SCOTUS has time and again upheld the 2nd Amendment and conceal-carry rights, the legal precedent in Obergefell certainly has established the ground for a nationwide right to conceal carry, and the ground for a number of other legal licensing requirements that must be recognized in every state.
