Twelfth Senate district candidate Siobhan Dunnavant has a TV ad is airing on cable this week in the Richmond area (it may run longer — that’s to be determined). It’s focused on Medicaid expansion, the Governor, and also takes a swing at the lawyers she’s squared off against in the GOP primary:
Interesting…not just for the sharp poke at Bill Janis, et al, but for the premium it puts on Dunnavant’s OB/GYN background. Sharp contrast is always useful.
As Shaun noted from the candidate debate last week, Dunnavant is the pick of retiring incumbent Walter Stosch. That may carry some weight in certain corners of the district, but for those of us who remember the Joe Blackburn campaign of 2007…not so much.
All that aside, TV marks an escalation in the contest. Janis, Haley and Dunnavant have been active in the mail, and Janis had volunteers working my neighborhood (in the most Republican precinct in Henrico county) over the weekend.
Gotta love open seat races.
