So, it’s snowing throughout most of Virginia, but much of us here in the cul-de-sac are getting “ick.”
For those not indoctrinated, “ick” is the nasty weather that precipitates the flu. It’s a dousing of icy rain at a balmy 32.5F.
There is nothing good that comes from “ick.” No snow days. No fresh, clear, and clean winter’s morn. No hot coffee looking out the window as the bright, red cardinals peck around the bird feeder. No sledding. No fun.
With ick, you get wet dogs, slippery roads and the sniffles.
In other words, it reminds me of Senator Tim Kaine.
Today we learn that Senator Kaine, after boycotting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s seminal speech to Congress, now he feels eminently qualified to cosponsor a bill on Iran’s nuclear designs (WSJ). Ick.
“I believe Congress should weigh in on the content of the deal,” Senator Kaine said, “given the centrality of the Congressional sanctions to the entire negotiation and the significant security interests involved.”
I actually agree with him here, but to be a leader of he effort given his baffling behavior Tuesday? Disturbing at the least.
Next, he actually injects Pope Francis into the debate on the Affordable Care Act (The Hill). Ick.
“The Affordable Care Act reaches into lives that have often been drowned in a sea of indifference and offers those lives some mercy,” he said today.
Senator Kaine, at least for conservatives, is this dude who seems like a nice guy and holds the promise of possibility, but, in the end, you’re left cold, damp, sick, and disappointed.
