In a stunning match to political splits and futures, Bearing Drift got some amazing responses to its General Assembly poll for picks to this year’s Super Bowl.
Seems like Lt. Governor Ralph Northam and AG Mark Herring are already at odds, with Northam nodding to New England and Herring siding with Seattle.
“With Russell Wilson being a Richmond native, my heart says the Seahawks,” said Northam. “But, my brain tells me the Patriots. I’m picking New England.”
The Virginia Senate split right down the middle, 50% for Seattle and 50% for New England. It was no partisan split either, as 50% of each Political Party chose Seattle and the other half picked the Patriots.
The vote of the House of Delegates was a slaughter. Over 70% of the votes went to Seattle, with Republicans leading the charge. All but one GOP Delegate chose Seattle. The only Republican Patriots supporter? Del. Scott Taylor of Virginia Beach. Guess patriots stick together.
Democrats split right down the center, half for each team. The tie could’ve been broken by Del. Scott Surovell, but his vote went to the Redskins.
One independent vote was cast, and that went to New England. Funny how he’s still contrary to most of the House and half his old Caucus.
Some went so far as to predict scores. Del. Terry Austin says Seattle 21-14. Senator John Edwards goes higher for Seattle 28-21. Del. J. Randall Minchew and Del. Peter Farrell pick Seattle winning late.

Didn’t get a response from Gov. Terry McAuliffe, but the comment section is open!
