The Brat for Congress campaign announced today that Amanda Chase is heading back to her business, Phil Rapp is being brought on board as the permanent campaign manager, and Tim Edson will be the new general consultant.
“As a long-time friend, Amanda really stepped up and helped me when I needed her most — coming in as my transition campaign manager until we could put our full team together. I understand she needs to return to her business and other pursuits, and I will always be grateful for her service,” said Brat in a statement.
Rapp served in management at Tredegar Corporation – a Chesterfield-based, but globally-produced, plastics and aluminum company – and led the volunteer effort, as a volunteer, during the primary. He also served as a senior adviser during the primary. However, Rapp does not have any campaign management experience.
Also being brought on board is new general consultant: Tim Edson.
Edson managed former Rep. Allen West’s 2012 re-election campaign in Florida. In Virginia, he managed Keith Fimian’s 2010 congressional campaign and Susan Stimpson’s 2013 lieutenant governor campaign.
The architects of Brat’s stunning victory last month: Zachary Werrell (campaign manager) and Concentric Consulting are no longer with the campaign. A reliable source tells BD that the Trammell campaign has raised over $100k and that the DCCC is now considering a $300k play in the district.
Update: “After a grueling schedule in the primary, Zach said he accomplished his mission with the primary win and has decided to move on,” said Brian Gottstein, Brat’s spokesperson.
