Eric Cantor is going to engage 7th district voters, a bit, with a new TV ad set to beginning airing on Wednesday:
Um, yeah.
As Olympia Meola notes in the RTD, the ad “makes no mention of Cantor’s primary opponent” David Brat.
So it’s a brand building effort. Is it a sign that Cantor is concerned about the June primary? Not necessarily. However, a candidate, particularly a House majority leader, does not run ads at this time of year for the heck of it.
Of more interest was this:
Eight weeks before the June 10 primary, Cantor’s committee reported having more than $2 million on hand and raising more than $1 million in the first quarter, which ran Jan. 1 – March 31. The reporting for that time period is due today.
