Yes, it’s a straw poll, and such creatures are often worth little more than the straw used to conduct them. However, the results of the Manassas Tea Party’s straw poll do give Del. Bob Marshall some genuine bragging rights in the crowded race for the GOP’s 10th district congressional district nomination:
At the end of the forum the Manassas Tea Party conducted a straw poll to survey audience opinion of the candidates. Well known to voters in this area, Delegate Bob Marshall walked away in the poll with 49%, while Stephen Hollingshead was second with 25%. Remaining candidates each collected 8% or less.
Those with less than eight percent included Del. Barbra Comstock, Marc Savitt and Democrat John Foust (who clocked-in with “0”).
The poor showing for Del. Comstock? Excuses will flow…but it may also be an omen.
