Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Greg Underwood was arrested in Norfolk on Wednesday night and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
According to Virginia State Police, Underwood was charged with DUI, refusing to take a breath test, being in possession of a weapon while intoxicated, and driving through a work zone. (Virginian-Pilot)
He is on the ballot for November 5th as the Democratic nominee for Norfolk’s Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Should Norfolk’s prosecutor, the one whose job it is to keep drunk drivers off the streets, be someone charged with drunk driving himself?
Will he withdraw his candidacy? Will the Democrats force him off the Democratic ticket?
Or will Democrats reward a Prosecutor who refuses to take a breathalyzer after being arrested for drunk driving and weapons charges?
Will Terry McAuliffe, Ralph Northam and Mark Herring demand that Underwood withdraw from the campaign and either resign or take a leave of absence as Norfolk’s prosecutor?
After all, Terry McAuliffe likes his booze!
