Anyone remember “Miller the Job Killer” from the 2006 Democratic primary? Harris Miller was a lobbyist, a moderate… and unforgivably in certain quarters of the Democratic Party of Virginia, a Jew.
Hook nose, money and cigars… “the anti-Christ of outsourcing” is what they called Harris Miller then.
Democrats elected Jim Webb a United State Senator on this garbage.
Ask yourself: do you really think McAuliffe (a lobbyist himself) really cares about Jews? Or is McAuliffe more interested in dusting his tracks from some pretty offensive comments made about Irish Catholics:
“Terry was his normal, flamboyant self,” said a board member present for both interviews. “He didn’t want to get pinned down to any details. He didn’t give any details. He was all about jobs, jobs, jobs — ‘I’m just going to take care of the situation when the time comes. I’m just going to do it.’ It was all [expletive].”
Cuccinelli, by contrast, the person said, “was precise. He was thoughtful. He thought through all the issues. He had a clear position on all those issues, and he didn’t agree with the council on all the issues.”
Two people present said that in response to a question about how he’d accomplish his goals as governor, McAuliffe told the PAC board that as an Irish Catholic he’d be adept at taking people out for drinks and doing whatever it takes to get things done. McAuliffe is well known as a schmoozer, but he seemed to badly misread his methodical audience with that answer, several of those present said.
Of course, Naked DC puts this all in perspective:
First of all, as a Catholic, I’m offended. Everyone knows that drinking with a purpose is reserved to Sundays, holidays and St. Patrick’s Day. Second, it’s strange that people think this is out of character for Terry, who is basically a shallow pond of bizarre media quotes and terrible investments in government-sponsored technology companies that still manage to go bankrupt even with a consistent flow of taxpayer money. It isn’t like this is the first time we’ve figured out who among the candidates belongs at the kids’ table in this race. It isn’t even the first time we’ve discovered who among the candidates belongs in the primate department of the National Zoo.
I guess that sort of self-deprecation is racist, too? But alas… facts matter little when emotive governs political debates.
Perhaps McAuliffe can answer why he would keep people around his campaign that peddle such anti-Semitic cartoons such as these. Defend them even?
Time to look a bit deeper, folks. They’re dusting tracks, and for good reason.
UPDATE: Oh yeah, remember the time when Rep. Jim Moran blamed the Iraq War on the J-O-O-S, and the entire Democratic establishment demanded and received Moran’s resignation?
At an antiwar forum in Reston, Va., Moran contended that the U.S. would not be considering military action against Iraq “if it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war… The leaders of the Jewish community are influential enough that they could change the direction of where this is going, and I think they should.”
Me neither.
