The Cuccinelli campaign has unleashed a web ad smacking Terry McAuliffe and his electric car company. It’s damned effective:
The McAuliffe campaign, quite understandably, does not like this at all:
McAuliffe spokesman Josh Schwerin jabbed Cuccinelli for remaining as attorney general while campaigning for governor, and he took a shot at the conflict of interest questions now encircling the Republican.
“Like most previous Virginia Attorneys General, Terry thinks that running for Governor and listening to Virginians is a full-time job,” Shwerin said. “This is just Ken Cuccinelli trying to distract from his divisive agenda and ongoing scandal.”
Cuccinelli deftly side-stepped the “scandal” that has Shwerin in a lather by appointing, at no charge to the state, two independent attorneys to handle the Star Scientific case.
As for the “divisive agenda”…look for McAuliffe and company to go all social issues, all the time. Not because they have anything useful to say on such matters, but because it stirs up their base (though it does not necessarily guarantee they will turn out. How did that McDonnell thesis line of attack work for them in 2009?).
