Attorney Gary Byler, candidate for the Republican nomination in the 85th District, was endorsed today by Del. Bob Tata, who has held the seat for three decades before deciding to retire this year.
“For 30 years it has been an honor and a privilege to represent our home here in Virginia Beach in the General Assembly,” said Tata. “I can think of no one better to serve the families of our community than Gary Byler. He will be the trusted voice that we can count on.”
In what is probably the most significant endorsement to date, Byler said,
“Coach Tata is one of the most respected men to serve the people of Virginia Beach in elected office, and to receive his blessing for the honored task of representing our home in the General Assembly is enormously humbling. Coach Tata understands how deeply I care about the area where I grew up, raised a family and built a career. His leadership, wisdom and expertise will be sorely missed in Richmond, and I pledge to work tirelessly as he did, to give the families of the 85th district the forceful and principled voice in state government they deserve.”
The primary will be held June 11.
