NBC and ABC swing and miss on Benghazi; CBS covers the Obama misdirection

Following up on my post from yesterday, the president still has yet to be straight with the American people and it would appear that the media is ready to be willing accomplices.

The president, his Secretary of State, and the UN Ambassador blamed the Benghazi attacks on Sept. 11 on a spontaneous demonstration incited by a YouTube video. It was never described by the president, despite appearing on Letterman, The View, and Univision, over the course of two weeks, as anything otherwise. The president may have said it was an example of “acts of terror” in his Rose Garden speech on Sept. 12, but he never described it as terrorism or anything linked to al Qaeda for weeks. Now, his administration is blaming the failed talking points on the intelligence community.

What’s worse, is now it appears some in the media are ready to sweep this under the rug and look the other way. Not only did Candy Crowley inexplicably allow herself to be bullied into injecting herself into the debate on Tuesday by President Obama and trying to become a fact-checker on the fly, but the Media Research Center (MRC) analyzed yesterday’s reporting and found that NBC and ABC continued to run interference for the Obama administration regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi and the subsequent pivots. The good news is that they also found that CBS Evening News “fully exposed this lie and called out moderator Candy Crowley for her endorsement of Obama’s deception.”

According to their analysis:

*ABC World News spiked Obama’s lie completely, focusing instead on his high horse debate response that “put Romney in his place.”
* NBC’s Chuck Todd barely broached the subject on NBC Nightly News, and grudgingly conceded that the President implied in his Rose Garden speech that a YouTube video was responsible. He had no comment on Crowley.
* On CBS Evening News, correspondent Jan Crawford devoted a full story to President Obama’s deceptive claim that he called the Benghazi attack an “act of terror” early on, noting the administration’s refusal to call it a terrorist attack for many days. She also called out Crowley for bolstering Obama’s lie.

“Jan Crawford and CBS News deserve credit for exposing Obama’s deception and criticizing CNN’s Candy Crowley for her role in validating the President’s lie. This is unquestionably a major issue, and CBS covered it correctly,” MRC President Brent Bozell responds. “It is outrageous, reprehensible, and indefensible that ABC News and NBC News are blatantly pushing Obama’s re-election by refusing to report real news. But America is seeing this. NBC and ABC have no credibility.”

A quick review of Tweets from Chuck Todd shows he’s not remotely interested in covering this story. Instead, he’s looking at the really substantive story that will affect American policy: ‘the Romney courtship of Billy and Franklin Graham.’
