Bob Lewis of the Associated Press is reporting that Gov. Doug Wilder has found Vice President Biden’s comments in Danville, Va. regarding Gov. Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan putting “y’all in chains” to be unacceptable.
“Why did he feel the need to do that?” Wilder told the AP. “Did he feel that these people were so dumb that he had to appeal to them with something like that? You can forgive people for gaffes, but there comes a time when you realize you’re forgiving the same guy for making the same mistakes.”
Wilder has also said on CNN that he thought Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would have made a better running mate for Obama and that he is tired of a divided racial America, implied by Biden’s use of “y’all”.
Update:
White House Spokesman Jay Carney says that Wilder “doesn’t have a point” with regards to the Vice President’s comments. Says that public speakers often run the risk of being misinterpreted or taken out of context.
