The Fiscal Union, with its vicious cycle of endless tax increases and recessions, has two obstacles: the Irish electorate – who are already being blackmailed by the IMF (Independent, Ireland) – and Francois Hollande, who continues to insist he won’t support the FU in its current form.
Now, Hollande’s problems with the FU are less than they should be, but he made his determination clear by noting that Ireland doesn’t have to knuckle under to the IMF (Irish Times).
So, national sovereignty, common-sense economics, and the cause of limited government must rely on the French people electing a Socialist for President. Yes, it’s that bad. The good news is that France, for the first time in a while, appears ready to do the right thing.
