Just got a handy list of the more than 40 transportation projects which will have to be shelved, backburnered or erased to make room for the $300 million dollars Sen. Dick Saslaw is trying to get in his last-minute stand against passing a budget in Virginia.
Look out, Virginia Beach. Your projects will be among the first on the chopping block.
Replacement of the aging Lesner Bridge, widening of Lynnhaven Parkway, Holland Road and Witchduck Road – all pushed away if Saslaw gets his way.
Plenty of other projects throughout the state, too, but boy the chunk of money that comes right out of Virginia Beach is huge.
As I reported yesterday here, Saslaw claims there will never be a 21st vote for the budget unless he gets his way and $300 million gets added to his pet project, and that $300 million comes from somewhere.
Looks like Saslaw thinks Democrat-free Virginia Beach is the place to find it.
Saslaw is making it very easy for Virginia Beach to stay Democrat-free for a very long time.
