The deadline for Republican Senate candidates to turn in their petition signatures has come. The RPV has sent out a press release telling us who crossed the finish line:
According to sworn affidavits filed by the candidates with the Virginia State Board of Elections, RPV is in possession of the following number of signatures:
Jamie Radtke: 21,522
George Allen: 26,869
Bob Marshall: 17,133
E.W. Jackson: 11,188The four Republican candidates who have filed petitions submitted a grand total of 76,712 signatures. RPV will begin the petition certification process at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
David McCormick, then, is out of the running.
But the man on the bubble is Earl Jackson. He fell well short of the 15,000 mark that just about guarantees a ballot slot. An invalid rate of even just 15 percent means he’s watching the contest from home.
