To serve on the United States Supreme Court, should a Supreme Court Justice hate the US Constitution?
I think it calls into serious question the judgment, demeanor and decisions cast by a justice who doesn’t not support the US Constitution.
Article 6 of the Constitution states that judicial officers are “bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution”
It’s obvious Ruth Bader Ginsburg does not.
She advises Egypt “I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012.”
Better Constitutions in her mind? South Africa. Canada. Anything but that US Constitution that she swore an oath to support.
Of course, South Africa’s Constitution has a right to housing and a right to health care, and a right to food and water and every worker has the Constitutional right to strike. Labor Unions are constitutionally mandated. And forget about the right for citizens to keep and bear arms.
I guess we know now how she’ll rule on Obamacare.
If she’d like to take an oath to support the Constitution of South Africa, I’m sure they’d save her a seat.
But to publicly disparage the US Constitution in foreign countries, in my opinion, she has irreparably damaged her ability to defend the US Constitution as a Supreme Court Justice and should either resign or be removed.
