Palin endorses Newt – but just for this week
By | Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 | Politics

Sarah Palin tonight stated that if she were a South Carolinian, she would vote for Newt Gingrich – not because she necessarily believes he is the best candidate, but because she wants the nomination race to continue as a means of sharpening and preparing our candidates for the race against Barack Obama:

Palin makes an interesting point:  There is no question that every single remaining candidate is articulating his views and running his campaign more effectively than in earlier months, and that’s because competition breeds excellence.  At last night’s debate, Newt found his voice again, and Rick Perry even sounded coherent!

That said, I continue to believe that Mitt Romney is our inevitable nominee, and I believe the nomination contest has already sharpened and improved him as a candidate.  Now it’s time to unify behind him so he can raise the funds and reorganize his campaign to take on and defeat Obama.

I would rather be condemned by Debbie Whats-her-name Schultz than be endorsed by Sarah Palin.

    MD – Well, yeah….

Ken, that is basically what she said, yes. But she still said it. Despite MD Russ, her back-handed endorsement in SC probably does carry some weight. I suspect a lot of herardent fans (and there are many of them) have been waiting for this wink from her. I don’t know why you keep have to tooting the horn form Mitt. Newt is not on the ballot in Virginia, remember?

  5. Craig Kilby January 18, 2012 03:10 am

MD Russ–are you running for any office?

  6. Mormor January 18, 2012 05:02 am

Does anybody really care about what Palin thinks and says? I mean really?

(don’t you just LOVE that Alaskan background?)

Palin has a valid point and she was just being honest, her job is a political commentator for FOX News and she gave her opinion. Her husband has endorsed Newt, so while this isn’t an official endorsement – I don’t know why this is any surprise since Newt had such a great debate the other night.

Follow the money.. Sarah is saying what is best for ad revenue at FOX in this instance.. When all the candidates go home, the revenue model changes as does the revenue stream. Follow the money.

  9. Loudoun Lady January 18, 2012 10:51 am

You could make the ad revenue comment/charge about any political commentator or analyst with any program on any channel.

Probably more people than who care what John McCain or George H. W. Bush say.

    Craig

That just proves how low we sunk.

  13. MD Russ January 18, 2012 13:43 pm

    Mormor,

It also just goes to show how low the Tea Party has sunk. “By their fruits you shall recognize them.” It must be a pretty sad movement if their “leaders” are typified by the likes of Sarah Palin and by the Masturbating Witch of Delaware.

    Craig,

No, I am not running for office and definitely not interested in ever doing so.

    Wow!

The folks who won’t get involved,or exert any efforts think they are the proper folks to criticize Sarah Palin or anybody in the “Tea Party”.

Looks to me,Sarah Palin has accomplished way more than the motley crue commenting here many times over.

  15. James "turbo" Cohen January 18, 2012 22:52 pm

Pam, did Obama Biden win or did McCain Palin lose?

  16. Politics with Pam January 18, 2012 23:06 pm

    Turbo,

That’s not the issue in this post. There are attacks and remarks of derision on the person of Sarah Palin, and anybody Tea Party with no substance.

This blog is not the type that supports that. I am merely trying to make the point, if you want to bash and criticize , you should be able to point to your own efforts that are better.

The proof is in the pudding. What have the folks on this string criticizing Palin, when they have not even remotely done what she has?

    Turbo,

Basically, Sarah Palin commands some influence based on her documented accomplishments, and you do not.

  18. MD Russ January 18, 2012 23:51 pm

    Pam,

Your argument reminds me of the story of the father who was discouraged by his Gen X son who had graduated from college and moved back home with no job prospects. (This was long before the Occupuppy Movement.) His father confronted his son one day and said, “you know, when George Washington was your age he was out on the frontier surveying land.” The slacker replied, “yes, Dad, and when he was your age he was President of the United States.”

You see, Pam, accomplishment is not an entrance criteria for criticism. I don’t know of a single film critic who has ever won an Academy Award. But that doesn’t mean that the critical observer isn’t capable of pointing out the shortcomings of those who claim public recognition.

And, while we’re on the subject of accomplishment, exactly what has Sarah Palin accomplished? At least Mark Sanford completed his elected term as Governor of South Carolina, but no one is touting him as a political leader or seeking his endorsement.

Turbo wrote: “Pam, did Obama Biden win or did McCain Palin lose?”

A while back we had a discussion of what an *ad hominem* attack was. Turbo’s rhetorical question–totally a propos of nothing that was being discussed–is the dictionary definition.

Mormor: I wondered the same thing. Isn’t Snowbilly Grifter’s 15 minutes up? It should have ended when she decided not to run for president, at which point it should have been clear to everyone that she and her annoying family are only in it for the money.

    Sorrry Steve,Mormor or Turbo,

The next time you are elected Governor of any state in in the US…let me know.

You want to criticize Palin….but none of you can even remotely hold candle to what she has done.

    Pam
