“Vote Rogue”
By Norman Leahy | Thursday, December 29th, 2011 | Politics, VirginiaAs if the Republican field wasn’t fluid enough for you, now comes word that some folks are urging Iowa caucus-goers to “vote rogue”:
The underground movement to draft Sarah Palin into the Iowa caucuses has moved onto television, with a group called Sarah Palin’s Iowa Earthquake running ads across the state.
The ad is decidedly low-tech and has run on some of Iowa’s smaller broadcast stations like WOI in Des Moines, a sign that the group is not putting much money behind its campaign.
But what the commercial lacks in sophistication it makes up for in audacity. “Crony capitalism and corruption in government is eating this country alive,” says the message on screen, which is displayed in simple white font against a black backdrop as a montage of still photos of Ms. Palin flash by. “This disease must be addressed by our next president or the crooks will still be running your candy store.”
The ad ends with Ms. Palin’s voice, taken from a political rally, saying, “God bless you, Iowa!” and it implores viewers, “Please, caucus for Sarah Palin.”
If the message catches on, it could make for an interesting vote. But it’s not likely to. Or could it?

I hope it catches fire.
As a political junkie, I’d like the chance to see a real-live brokered convention, which we’ve only read about in history books up to now.
That would be much more interesting than a Romney coronation after the first couple of primaries thin out the field…the usual Republican –and Democratic too (2008 was unusual) …pattern.
Have to agree with Steve, brokered convention would be amazing. It wouldn’t hurt the GOP chances, it would help it tremendously. The ratings for such a convention would be through the roof and people would be paying attention to what is going on. We would emerge with a stronger nominee among the existing crop or we could get one of the heavy weights as the nominee (Mitch Daniels, Haley Barbour, etc.)
Anon: Well if you’re talking heavyweights, you shold be rooting for the Christie-Barbour ticket
The only problem is because campaigns want a longer primary period because they don’t take matching funds in the primaries conventions are not until late Aug early sept. Putting Reps at a disadvantege. Reagan was nominated in July Bush 41 in Early Aug, Bush 43 in Early Aug.
The Rep Nominee will be nominated on Aug 30, the day the college FB season begins. Its rediculous

I signed up yesterday.
I am a part of this effort and we are people who support Sarah Palin that got together and chipped in what we could to do this. It is because we don’t see a viable candidate in the current field and don’t like even the RNC picking for us. We know Sarah’s background of accomplishments and what she did for Alaska and want the same for our great country.
The only heavyweight as you put it that we want is “Sarah Palin”.
Well, Vicky, if Palin carried more about policy and serving her country than she does about the several million oollars in FOX salary, reality show money and book deals she stands to make it, she’d get in. She doesn’t. So she won’t.
cared more, not carried
oh yeah it will definitely catch on. consider how bad the current field is. consider how many iowans have been undecided. and consider how the GOP establishment loves liberal-lite romney and they’re trying to FORCE him on everybody when we don’t all want him!!
the palin earthquake is for people who want a fresh new choice and who want to say “screw you” to the establishment. we hope she runs! maybe if she gets a lot of iowa write-in votes she’ll consider it!!
