…and no one talked about it today.

Today the threats are different, but no less mortal.

There are many who discuss Gorbachev just maybe not in your circles.

Gorbachev coauthored “The Earth Charter” with Maurice Strong. They are to replace the 10 commandments. So, we’re dealing with Gorbachev everyday, he’s working with the UN now. In America and reality, it’s known as the EPA.

How did Kruschev put it? We’ll feed you small doses of socialism until one day we awaken to Communism.

I remember watching it on CNN. (Sorry guys, no Fox News yet.)

My landlady wondered how much that final Soviet flag lowered over the Kremlin would be worth.

    Henry,
While the lady in Russia was asking for a crumb of apple pie.

    Shaun,

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Has it really been 20 years? In 1991 I was an Army battalion commander in an armored brigade in western Germany. The coup attempt against Gorbachev in August scared the crap out of us. We had just gone through German reunification and thought that the Cold War was over. We had turned in our Prescribed Nuclear Load of artillery warheads and they had been flown out of Germany in the middle of the night in great secrecy. The US chemical weapons arsenal in Germany had been shipped off to Johnston Atoll in the Pacific for destruction. Our prepositioned war reserves of conventional ammunition was seriously depleted by the Gulf War. Suddenly, it appeared that the Soviet Union might strike out in its death throes like a wounded animal. We thought that we might have to execute “4102″ after all, the General Defense Plan for US Army, Europe. When the Soviet Union finally dissolved that winter, we celebrated a very Merry Christmas.

BTW, the Commonwealth of Independent States was as much of a misnomer as the Holy Roman Empire, which was not holy, not Roman, nor an empire.
