Kaine and Schumer, Sittin’ in a Tree…
By Shaun Kenney | Monday, December 19th, 2011 | Politics, VirginiaU.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) headlined a fundraiser Thursday night for Tim Kaine, the former Virginia governor who is running for Senate next year.
The event, held near Capitol Hill, asked for donations of $1,000 to $5,000.
Woo doggie! Paging Mitt Romney folks… why, I thought the Democratic Party was the party of the downtrodden and poor? Not the $5,000/plate rubber chicken dinner?
Kaine’s campaign, which released no details about the event, responded.
“It’s not surprising that former Senator Allen would look for any opportunity to distract from his big-spend record and his connections to Washington D.C. as a former party chairman, senator and head of a firm that lobbies Congress,’’ Kaine spokeswoman Brandi Hoffine said.
One wonders whether Brandi was dining on a $5,000 chicken dinner while she hammered that out via Blackberry… because lemme tell ya — $5,000 plate dinners are the very definition of a distraction.
This is the same Chuck “Gun Control” Schumer, mind you, that has waged a relentless war against America’s 2nd Amendment rights… wonder how Kaine explains taking the King of Gun Control’s shilling if he’s not going to do Chucky’s bidding?

I don’t understand the objection Brandi Hoffine raises when she uses the phrase “lobbies Congress” as a complaint.
Don’t we all have a Constitutional right to lobby Congress? It’s right there in the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law … abridging … the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
That’s what it means to “lobby Congress.” It’s our sacred right as Americans.
