Advance Keynote Lunch Highlights
By E M Barner | Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 | PoliticsAn encouraging afternoon with patriotic Republican leaders today. My highlights included
*Chairman Mullins reviewing a history of Virginia Republicans welcoming new groups of activists from the 70s through the present – from the Reagan Democrats to the Tea Party.
*Chairman Mullins read a letter from Ken Cuccinelli explaining why he could not attend and how he was looking forward to working alongside the activists in the room in the 2012 elections.
*RNC chairman Reince Priebus: “I’m not here & you’re not here because of concern about the future of the Republican party. We are here because we are concerned about the future of this country.”
“One thing we can agree on – the best stimulus plan in America is retiring Barack Obama.”
*Bill Bolling began his remarks by expressing appreciation for his wife, Jean Ann, who he said “lifts me up” when things are discouraging and “knocks me right back down” if he starts thinking to much of himself. As he closed his speech, Bolling’s voice broke as he spoke of his history as a coal miner and waitresses son and thanked everyone for giving him and his wife the opportunity to serve the 8 million people of Virginia.
*David Ramadan was recognized as the first foreign-born member of the General Assembly.
*Volunteers across the state were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Republican victories.
What were your highlights?

It was also great to see Linda Kivi Porter and Mark Sell from my home county honored for their great work in the 2011 election. Their efforts helped Republicans win 9 of 9 Board of Supervisors seats, a GOP endorsed school board majority, and all constitutional officers in our county of Loudoun.
Hi,
Kudos to fellow VFRW Linda Kivi Porter, the Lady who made credentials reporting at the last VFRW convention a musical participation affair!
Also, Kudo’s to John Salm, fellow Unit Chair for Northampton County recognized for Unit of the Year for the 2nd CD. I remember my rookie year, and John has done all of that & more in another area where Republicans are always working uphill.
I had a great time participating as a panelist on the Unit Chair Roundtable at the Advance, and definitely have a few ideas in the memory bank.
It was a great time all around at The Homestead. I hear the RPV Advance is heading to Hampton Roads next year.
Regards,
