And the winner of our Senate Prediction Contest is….
By | Thursday, November 10th, 2011 | Catch-All

….Lee Talley!!!

Lee correctly predicted 10 of the 13 races, and that Sen. Chuck Colgan would win and he would do so by a margin of 10 points – the closest to the actual 10.26 points Colgan won by.

In second place was Mike Vaccarelli, who predicted an 8.78 point Colgan victory. In third place was Nicholas O’Boyle who predicted 8.46 points.

Congratulations, gentlemen, on a job well done!

The mode of the number incorrect of those that participated was five and the average was 4.9, although 20 of the respondents only got 4 or 3 incorrect.

Lee, we’ll get with you off-line so that you can claim your “prize.”

Thank you to everyone who participated!

PS – Those of you who are full-time politicos who participated – and I know who you are – all I can say is, “Whew! People pay you?” :-)

Better to swing for the fences and be a hero than stick with the masses and muddle along with low expectations. :P

    Shaun,

Problem with those with insufficient talent swinging for the fences all the time is that they strike out a whole bunch too. Unless you’re Albert Pujols, who does not need to swing for the fences, just swing. A lot of those swings end up with home runs, but he also bats for percentage.

I wish to add that I was overjoyed that my Cardinals won the World Series. Go Cards!

Tony Larussa is retiring, and it remains to be seen if the Cardinals can retain the best player in baseball (Albert Pujols) but if this is our last hurrah for a few years, I am glad we went down on top.

And if Albert stays around? Wainwright has resigned and should be able to play next year (he missed all of this past season) so things will be looking good for 2012. We still need a good manager, but with the talent available if Albert is still there, the new manager does not need to be a miracle worker.
