RTD: Corey Stewart To Endorse George Allen
By | Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 | Northern Virginia, Politics, Virginia

Wesley Hester over at the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Virginia Politics Blog is reporting that Prince William Chairman Corey Stewart is expected to back former Virginia Governor George Allen for U.S. Senate:

Stewart, who is well-known in Northern Virginia for his tough stance on illegal immigration, told the Times-Dispatch earlier this year: “If I’m on the ballot, I’ll win Prince William County, I may win Loudoun County, I won’t do badly in Fairfax, and even if I just come close to breaking even in Northern Virginia … I’ll win.”

Stewart has praised Allen’s record as governor, but been critical of his term in the U.S. Senate.

Apparently, those concerns have been allayed.  Major blow to the Donner campaign’s hopes to lock up Northern Virginia conservatives.

UPDATE:  George Allen has the press release:

“Corey Stewart is a strong, leading conservative voice in Virginia and I am honored to have his significant and important endorsement in vitally important Prince William County. It is energizing to have Corey as a leader on our positive A-Team! Under Corey’s leadership, Prince William County was recently named the best place for business in Virginia and among the top counties in the entire nation for job growth – proving that low taxes, prompt permitting and the right pro-growth policies will help create jobs, reduce unemployment and reinvigorate this stagnant economy.

“Corey has been a strong, effective leader for the people of Prince William County. We need that same common sense, pro-growth philosophy in Washington, and I plan to bring those proven ideas and solutions to the U.S. Senate to restore the conditions for more job opportunities.

“I envision a better future for Virginia and America in which we reinvigorate the entrepreneurial spirit of America with the right competitive economic, regulatory, energy and education policies for small businesses to again thrive and make Virginia and America ‘Open for Business Again!’ Government does not create jobs; the government creates the right competitive conditions for jobs and investment. Corey Stewart, these supervisors, Governor McDonnell and these General Assembly candidates are proving it in Prince William County and Virginia.

“It is wonderful to be standing here side by side with Corey – one week before this year’s election – united in support of our fellow legislators and State and local candidates. I encourage everyone to get out and vote for their Chairman, Corey Stewart, and all the Republican legislators, local supervisors, and Sheriff Glen Hill here today to help continue the job-creation policies that are making Prince William County a great place to live, learn, work and raise a family.”

Welcome to the A-Team, Corey!

This couldn’t wait another week until after we’re done working on flipping the State Senate, I suppose.

Seems like a bit of hypocrisy on the part of Corey Stewart. First, he went around Virginia telling us that George Allen was a “mediocre Senator”. Now, he is endorsing him? For either good or bad, I somehow I doubt Allen’s record in the Senate has changed in these last several months. For that reason, I don’t see Stewart’s move as adding much traction to the Allen campaign.

This is not going to help Allen in northern Virginia, esp. in Fairfax County. Despite his strong stance on illegals, Corey is seen generally by moderate independents as an opportunistic asshole and is about as popular as a fart in church. But I am probably sugar-coating it too much.

So.. if you rub money on em, them rinos endorse..

  5. Britt Howard November 2, 2011 12:41 pm

Ok, so you already know that the Democrats in a general election will lable George Allen as a racist….again… Will this endorsement not just add fuel to their fire?

And the Left WILL attack George Allen as a racist. In fact the Left Wing media already is. I told you this would happen. Starts off slow, but see this video from earlier this year where this guy bemoans Webb leaving and talks about Kaine/Allen, and how George Allen is a racist:

George Allen can’t win. Add all that to his pitiful record and his ties to Freddie & Fannie and this is adds up to Republican Party self-inflicted wounding.

    Britt,

George Allen can’t win? Who can then, Jamie Radtke? RAOTFLMAO. Allen and The Eyebrow are a dead tie in the polls. By your criteria, it is just as credible to say that Kaine can’t win if Allen is the Republican nominee.

This is the same Corey Stewart who just rammed a property tax increase through the BOS and now claims it wasn’t a tax increase. I recall Corey trashing Connaughton for the same thing. Corey has morphed into Sean Connaughton, except Sean is more likeable and much smarter.

And let’s not forget this amateur move. Corey Stewart told the Post a few days ago he had an event that raised $234,000.
Corey even links the story on his website. http://www.coreystewart.com/2011/10/20/stewart-touts-biggest-fundraiser-of-his-career/

Corey is now touting his lies on his own website. According to the Virginia State Board of Elections, Corey actually raised $139,000 in contributions over $100 in the month of October. He reports another $70,000 in in-kinds, but $40,000 of that is money that Corey sent to RPV to get discounted postage, and RPV inkinded back to him.

    Corey is a joke.

Rocky, this is the same uh.. Conservative George Allen who supported hate crimes legislation.. was this for his gay male senate staff members that adopted children? Not gay bashing, just pointing out Allens hypocrcy. Then again the liberal media might come out of the woodwork to support Allen team mates who came out of the closet.

Kaine can beat Allen over his head with his values and the gay community will look the other way for the most part if it helps the dems. Again, not gay bashing, just sayin the facts.. Can’t make this stuff up.

  9. Britt Howard November 3, 2011 09:00 am

Rocky, you don’t understand “my criteria” if you seriously make that assertion. Yes, do think Jamie Radtke could beat Tim Kaine.

That said, if you want to prove your point about “my criteria” please describe all of Tim Kaine’s gaffes that are as famous as George Allen’s. Pleases enumerate all the things that Tim Kain has done to make it easy for the opposition to lable him as a hateful racist. Please show me his votes in the US Senate that raised our debt, subsidized numerous interests, created countless earmarks that he is “proud of”, and please show me how Tim Kaine ignore warnings and pleadings for help by Republican Sen. Hagel (or any Democrat even) to reign in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. If you do that, I will admit I am wrong and that you have a point. Good luck.

So George, do John Reid, your senate office communications director and Paul Unger, your senate counsel and legislative director share your conservative views?

Aside from the stories about the California Playboy turned Jeffersonian Conservatives staffers re-enacting Brokeback mountain on capitol hill.. found this libstream gem too hard to resist reading.

“In 2000, Allen’s sister Jennifer offered a brutal portrait of her angry, bullying brother in a little noticed book called Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach’s Daughter. She depicts the young Senator as a vicious tormenter of family, friends and neighbors. Given the impact of her work on Allen’s 2006 and 2008 electoral prospects (especially in light of Senator Allen’s recent “macaca” dust-up), Jennifer (Allen) Richard now claims that her tome was a “dramatization” and “a novelization of the past.”

Regardless, George Allen’s sister paints a picture of a vindictive, mean-spirited young man. (In that sense, he could well be George W. Bush’s logical successor.) While Lizza offers a long list of George Allen’s pathology as described in Fifth Quarter, here are just some of the highlights:

“What are you morons watching?” George asked as he changed the channel to Hee Haw. George loved Hee Haw. His favorite character was the big, slow-witted Junior. Junior tried to tell jokes yet always failed to remember the punch line. There was also something mildly country-thuggish about Junior that I think George felt akin to. (page 21-22)

We all obeyed George. If we didn’t, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. Another time, when I refused to go to bed, George dragged me up the stairs by my hair. George hoped someday to become a dentist. George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession–getting paid to make people suffer. Instead, George became a lawyer and went into politics.(page 21-22)

Ever since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I’ve had a fear of heights. (page 43)

The last time we all watched a game together, George beat up Bruce, and Bruce beat up Gregory, and I bit my nails, and Mom screamed, “Stop, stop, stop!” and held a knife above her head and threatened to kill herself if we didn’t stop fighting. (page 77)

Dad would soon be named chairman of the Summer Jobs Program for needy youth in Washington. He thought all us kids should have jobs by now. None of us did. Not even George, who was about to enter his second year in college. (page 88)

George took out a plug of tobacco and stuffed it in his mouth. He growled up a thick wad of phlegm and spit it into his hand for the dogs to come lick. He was dressed like a character on Hee Haw–cowboy hat, flannel shirt, blue jeans, and boots. Mom admired him more than any of her other children. He got straight As even when he acted like a hick. She went to stroke her son’s strong arm, but he brushed her away with a loud burp. (page 162)

My brother George welcomed him [Jennifer's new boyfriend Flynn] by slamming a pool cue against his head. (page 178)

My brother George sat with me for hours by the pool one day, measuring out parcels of his past [for Jennifer's book], all the while reminding me to remain faithful to the facts. (page 239)”
