Ward Armstrong flees the Democratic label, embraces Republican Poindexter
By Norman Leahy | Thursday, October 27th, 2011 | Politics, Southside, VirginiaWard Armstrong has another ad up that takes one of the more unusual creative approaches I’ve ever seen: coming right out of the gate and agreeing with his opponent, Republican Del. Charles Poindexter.
It’s sentiments like that which have Ward’s Democratic colleagues fuming and looking for someone else to be minority leader should he manage to win in November. Not that Armstrong is alone in his apostasy. Virginia Democrats of all stripes and locales are running from their national brethren…preferring instead to showcase themselves with Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell.
But here’s hoping the good people of the 9th district spare the Democrats the cat fight they seem to crave by retiring Ward on November 8th.
